ENA for
SMART - Development Version
This version (May 2nd, 2011) of ENA (ena_delta.exe)
contains the most recent changes of ENA. A stable beta version for the assessment of the
anthropometry and mortality can be downloaded at www.nutrisurvey.net/ena_beta and the approved version of ENA from October 2007 is still available at www.nutrisurvey.net/ena/ena.html.
If you should encounter any problems or if you have suggestions for changes please send

In comparison to the beta version from November 2008 the delta
version from March 2011 contains besides several small improvements the
following bigger modfications:
• It is now possible to collect mortality data
on the individual level (as opposed to household level) and to obtain
more detailed results (sex and age specific death rates, percentages
for the cause of death, etc.)
• The MUAC is fully integrated in the training,
results and plausibility part of ENA and the MUAC z-scores from the new
WHO standards are automatically added when the data of the survey is
exported to Excel.
• The type of measurement (height or length) can
be entered and the data is automatically corrected when it is not done
in the standard way (e.g. a child measured standing when the age is
< 2 years).
• It is possible now to do a weighted analysis
of the data. For each subject a weight can be entered and a report is
given out in Excel similar to the WHO tables.
• With a statistical calculator, it is possible
to do descriptive statistics for any variable broken down by cut offs
or ranges. Additionally cross tables between any of the variables and
prevalence rates with design effect adjusted confidence intervals can
be calculated.
• A Food Security module is integrated which
helps to find out why the nutritional status in a certain area is bad.
